By the time class closes, you will have a living personal magical practice, deeply informed by both ancient philosophical frameworks, and modern occult vision.

Course Curriculum:

Class One

Foundations: Correspondences & Magical Timing

Our first class will teach you the fundamentals of astrological correspondences, show how planetary influences can impact our spells and rituals, and develop a personalized practice for using astrological timing in ritual. We'll also introduce you to Electional Astrology, a special branch of the celestial art, which can help us choose the perfect time for anything.

    • A brief history of astrology and magic, from ancient Babylon through the Renaissance to current day

  • The seven traditional planets and their magical roles

    • Sun: Identity magic

    • Moon: Intuition magic

    • Mercury: Magical ideas & inspirations

    • Venus: Love & attraction magic

    • A step-by-step guide to creating your own planetary altars to channel astrological influences with intention

Class Two

Sigil Crafting, Automatic Writing, and Dreamwork

Class two will function as a sigil-crafting workshop, and an exploration of the power of connecting with the unconscious mind via automatic writing and dream incubation.

    • An exploration of the art of automatic writing, which is an intuitive tool that helps us excavate the contents of the unconscious mind.

    • How to import the symbols, messages, and ideas discovered in automatic writing into your personal ritual work.

  • My favorite dreamwork practices for connecting with personal symbols, and how to import these into your ritual work.

    • Learn how to craft a sigil, a sacred symbol imbued with meaning, to empower your spell craft.

    • I'll lead the group through a sigil-making tutorial, and we'll make sigils together in class, so you can jump right into working with some personalized magic.

Class Three

Herbal and Stellar Allies

This class will teach you the basics of working with herbs in a ritual context, how to create herbal blends for rituals and charms, and teach you correspondences between herbs and their planetary components. One of the oldest forms of astrology is the system of the fixed stars, a shimmering web of mythic, and magical influence, draped among the constellations of the zodiac. We'll learn the stories of four fixed stars, their unique herbal, gem, and elemental affiliations, and how to enhance your spell-work by including them in your rituals.

    • Brief introduction to the use of herbs in folk custom and healing work in various magic traditions

    • Notes on ethical sourcing of herbs in our environments

    • Different classes of herbs: adaptogens, analgesics, expectorants, nervines, and tonics

    • Herbs of the Sun: Enlightening and empowering

    • Herbs of the Moon: Accessing the heart-space

Poetic Incantation & Candle Magic

This class will teach you how to develop a strong method for crafting effective, unique, spells, exploring the link between personal poetry and spellwork.

    • Components of the poem-spell: Invocation, description of desired outcome, praise to supportive spirits, repetition of desired outcome, release.

    • Exploration of spells in poetry form through time, from ancient Egypt, through classical Greek and Roman hymns, to modernist poets.

    • Fire: Passionate Intention

    • Earth: Herbal offerings

    • Water: Emotional or intuitive focus

    • Air: Breath, recitation of the spell

    • A guide to creating powerful spells based on your personal goals

    • Candle magic 101

    • Comprehensive example of astrological ritual, complete with astrological timing, offerings and sample spells

I’ll be Your Teacher

My name is Cristina Farella, and I’m a counseling astrologer, astrology educator, and author. 

I hold an M.A. in Western Intellectual Traditions from the CUNY Graduate Center in New York. I am the author of Divination for Dummies (2026), a comprehensive introduction to a wide array of divinatory and ritual practices.

I come to this work as both a teacher, looking to inspire my students, as well as a fellow seeker who walks the path of discovery alongside you. I believe we’re here to build our own unique relationship with the magic of sky and earth. I can’t wait to walk beside you through this exploration of the threefold craft.

  • No, these classes are held live on Zoom, but will be recorded, and available for replay within 24 hours of class ending. You can join from any timezone and follow at your own pace.

  • A foundational understanding of the signs, houses, and planets will benefit you, as we’ll be exploring aspects of astrologically timed ritual work, but the class is designed with informed beginners to intermediate practitioners in mind.

  • While I don’t offer scholarships at this time, I am happy to offer alternative payment plans to accommodate students interested in such arrangements.
