Astrology is a language of symbols.

Astrology is one of humanity’s oldest tools for understanding the relationship between self and cosmos.

Yet many students discover that after learning the basics—planets, signs, houses, and aspects—a deeper question arises:

How do we bring the chart to life?

How do we move from memorized meanings to living interpretation?

How do we weave the elements of the chart into a coherent story about character, fate, and transformation?

The School of Astrological Arcana was created to address this moment in your astrological study.

Inside this course, we approach astrology as both technical craft and symbolic art, and students learn to:

• synthesize the elements of the natal chart into coherent interpretations
• understand planetary archetypes through mythology and symbolism
• recognize major psychological and narrative themes within a chart
• track planetary cycles and turning points in a life story
• develop confidence in their own interpretive voice

Together we explore how astrology functions as a symbolic language rooted in mythology, archetype, and the long history of human attempts to understand fate, character, and transformation. The natal chart is revealed as more than just information about your personality, but becomes a living myth unfolding through time.

How the course works

The School of Astrological Arcana unfolds over 10 weeks of live instruction and guided study.

Each lecture explores a major theme in astrology, and these lectures are supplemented with readings, exercises, and chart interpretation practice.

In addition to the lectures, we will gather for Astrology Practicum sessions where students can practice reading charts together, ask questions, and deepen their interpretive skills in real time, with Cristina’s support.

We begin by exploring astrology’s historical roots and symbolic worldview.

You’ll learn how ancient cultures understood the cosmos as a living, interconnected system—and how mythic thinking informs astrological interpretation.
Planets, signs, houses, and the structure of the natal chart.

This week establishes the interpretive framework we will use throughout the course.
Our first practicum session offers review of the first two lectures’s material, and provides open ended space for chart reading practice with the class.
Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars.

We explore these planets through mythology and psychological symbolism.
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.

Meet your instructor

Hi, I’m Cristina Farella, astrologer and founder of Eighth House Astrology.

I love all things ancient, mysterious, and occult. I’m the author of Divination for Dummies and the co-author of The Celestial Bodies Oracle. I hold an M.A. in Western Intellectual Traditions from the CUNY Graduate Center, where I studied Greek drama, mythic literature, and the symbolic imagination of the ancient world.

This is my fourth year teaching this class, and my work as an astrologer weaves together:

• classical astrological technique
• mythology and archetypal psychology
• poetic interpretation
• perspectives on creativity and personal ritual

Through my teaching, I aim to help students move beyond memorization into deep, intuitive understanding of the natal chart.

FAQs

Yes. This course is designed for students who already know the basics of astrology. Best suited for this course are informed beginners to intermediate practitioners.
All sessions are recorded and available for replay.
Live classes are held on Zoom, and students receive a Zoom link by April 28th.
Recordings, supplemental materials, and class discussions are access on Mighty Networks, a free social learning platform that students will also receive an invite to by April 28th.
Students have one week after our first lecture to drop the class with a full refund. After that, barring extreme personal circumstances, students who need to drop the class will only be refunded 25% of class tuition. Thank you for understanding.
I reserve three reduced cost seats for students with financial need in this course. Please reach out to me via the contact form below if you’d like to discuss enrollment options.
Students have lifetime access to materials, so if you can’t follow along live, or life gets busy, you can jump back in when you are ready.
I am primarily influenced by Hellenistic perspectives, so use the Whole Sign house system, but have no problem with students bringing questions about quadrant house systems to my classes. The houses are a lens through which we see the chart, and I do not believe there is one “true” house system.
