Myths of Light and Myths of Night
In our astrological wanderings, we encounter mythic figures. The planets bear the names of gods, and asteroids and fixed stars carry the names of gods and demi-gods, deepening the mythic realm of the natal chart.
Below you’ll find two guided meditations, designed to help you descend into the imaginative space within, and connect with mythic figures. The goal here is to use the tool of active imagination to form an intuitive, creative, and personal bond with the mythic figures contained in the chart.
In the Myths of Light meditation, you’ll traverse the realm of the Sun, a place flooded with light and golden beauty, and be given the opportunity to call forward any “dayworld” deity you care to meet. Figures like Apollo, Helios, Aesclepius, Prometheus, Vesta, are all possible avenues of exploration. You can also use this connect with the Sun in your natal chart (Sol, or Helios), as well as Jupiter, Mars, Venus, and / or Mercury in his daytime messenger role, to learn more about what those placements hold for you.
In the Myths of Night meditation, you’ll be invited to meet any mythic figure who is oriented to "nighttime," or the underworld.
Figures like Hekate, Persephone, Pluto, Orpheus, the Fates, even Hercules in his underworld journey--can be called forward and connected with, here. You can also use it to connect with your natal Moon, as she is our nocturnal luminary, Neptune, and Saturn, to learn more about what those placements hold in your psyche.
You’ll find the medis below, as well as some journaling prompts to help you recall and excavate what came up for you in either meditation.
